Ohio reporting 364 new cases of COVID-19; 31,191 total

COLUMBUS — According to the latest figures today from the Ohio Department of Health, the state is reporting 31,191 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19 — 364 more than reported Tuesday.

In addition, the state is also reporting 2,248 "probable cases," which is a new expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Statewide, 5,700 people have been hospitalized, 1,492 of whom are in intensive care units.

There are 1,393 cases in Mahoning County; 544 in Trumbull; and 682 in Columbiana.

Statewide, there have been 1,842 confirmed deaths, including 173 in Mahoning County; 47 in Trumbull; and 52 in Columbiana; along with another 202 "probable deaths."

Mahoning County's 173 reported COVID-19 deaths remains the fourth-highest among all Ohio's 88 counties, according to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, which presents confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each county.

Mahoning County has the seventh-highest number of total cases in the state. With an estimated population of 228,683 people and 1,393 confirmed cases as of Wednesday, that's about one case of the virus for every 164 people.
