Poland native Julia Cooper may have lost the battle on tonight’s episode of NBC’s “The Voice,” but her fight on the singing competition isn’t over.
In the Battle Round, Cooper went head-to-head with John Holiday, singing a duet of “Summer Soft” by Stevie Wonder. Both singers received praise from the four coaches, but John Legend named Holiday the winner. As Cooper was walking off the stage, Legend used his one and only save to keep Cooper in the competition.
“You showed us so much with your soul, your voice, your musicality, and I’d love to have you go into the Four-Way Knockout and see if America will send you to the next round,” Legend said after saving Cooper.
Cooper, 21, grew up in Poland and spent her childhood involved in musical theater. After high school, she decided to pursue acting and joined an arts conservatory. She later enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University for commercial songwriting. She currently lives in Nashville, Tenn., where she works four jobs to pay for school and support herself.
