YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Convention & Visitors Bureau is inviting the public to get out and support local small businesses in Mahoning County during the pandemic, and then share their experiences via photos.

The interactive Snapshots of Youngstown — Fall 2020 campaign will run through Oct. 31.

Participants are invited to give local businesses a “virtual high five” by patronizing them and documenting their visit. There are seven categories with suggestions on ways to support local businesses. If you complete five of the seven categories — the virtual high five — and share your photos, you can enter for a chance to win one of 20 $25 gift cards to Mahoning County businesses.

Rules and more information, including how to upload photos and an entry form, can be found here.

The photos will be used to promote the local businesses on social media and possibly in future CVB marketing campaigns promoting Youngstown and Mahoning County.

“Local businesses really need our support during this challenging time. We think this will be a fun and easy way to do that,” Linda Macala, CVB executive director, said in a news release. “You can win a gift card to places like White House Fruit Farm, Youngstown Clothing Company, Stone Fruit Coffee and Handel’s, to name a few.”

The campaign also encourages the public to visit popular local places such as parks and museums.

“We hope people will get out and enjoy the cooler temperatures and beautiful fall color while staying safe by following CDC guidelines,” Macala said. “Fall is a great time to rediscover Youngstown and all we have in our own backyard, and have some fun at the same time.”
