YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past is planning a Sunday rally at the Mahoning County Courthouse to commemorate the one-year anniversary of George Floyd's murder.

Floyd, a Black man, was murdered by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Memorial Day. His murder sparked worldwide protests against racial injustice last summer.

The Sunday event also marks 100 years since the massacre of Black Americans in Tulsa, in which a group of white men — including public officials and police — attacked an area in Tulsa known as "Black Wall Street."

The rally will take place at 3 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Swinn from 102.3 FM.
