BOARDMAN — From now through Dec. 31, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, 7997 Market St., will pledge money from new vehicle sales to a local charity as part of its annual Operation Santa campaign.

For each new Chevrolet, Buick or GMC sold during November and December, Sweeney will donate $50 to The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley in recognition of the United Way’s Centennial Celebration.

“This year's beneficiary is an organization that's been making an impact in the Mahoning Valley for an entire century, and we’re excited to partner with the local United Way in our annual Operation Santa campaign,” Alexa Sweeney Blackann, vice president of Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, said in a news release. “The United Way has helped improve the quality of life for thousands in our community, and this is our way of saying thank you for helping those in need.”

Last year, Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown and Salvation Army split $32,350 from the campaign. Since 2013, Sweeney has donated more than $125,000 from the Operation Santa campaign to local charities.
