WARREN — At their final meeting of 2019, Warren Toastmasters members provided Christmas gifts for children at Backyard Beginnings Daycare.

The day care center is located in but not affiliated with Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NE.

“A lot of families are struggling and are very appreciative of a couple extra gifts underneath the tree,” Erica Thomas, owner and administrator of Backyard Beginnings, said in a news release.

This is the third year Warren Toastmasters has donated gifts to the day care. “Doing something like this, giving to the kids here — I know they appreciate it because I’ve seen it. That is what it is all about,” said Toastmaster Don Scarmuzzi.

Warren Toastmasters meetings will resume Jan. 11 at Christ Episcopal Church. Guests are welcome.

Warren Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills.
