COLUMBUS — In response to a Thursday protest against police brutality that resulted in damage to the Ohio Statehouse, Gov. Mike DeWine will give a news conference today, Statehouse News Bureau reporter Karen Kasler shared on Twitter.

DeWine plans "to discuss the events yesterday and this morning at the Ohio Statehouse and downtown Columbus."

Crowds gathered to protest to the murder of 46-year-old George Floyd by Minneapolis police Monday. In video footage of the protest, some protesters threw objects at police, who then used tear gas to push the crowd back, NBC 4 in Columbus reported.

According to the Ohio Channel's schedule, DeWine will appear at 2:30 p.m.
