YOUNGSTOWN — The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine will present "Swan Lake" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Edward W. Powers Auditorium at DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St.

Tickets, ranging in price from $35 to $75, can be purchased here.

Though not an instant hit during its 1877 premiere, Tchaikovsky’s "Swan Lake" grew in popularity over time, making it the most in-demand ballet in the world.

With more than 55 dancers, the State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine has drawn critical acclaim in performances throughout Europe.

Songwriter and producer Hugh Pool to present master class at YSU

YOUNGTOWN — Guest artist Hugh Pool will present a master class, hosted by Youngstown State University’s Department of Visual & Dramatic Arts, at 4 p.m. today in Ford Theater.

The masterclass is free and open to the public.

Pool is a songwriter and producer who plays guitar in a unique style that melds traditional Delta blues, country music and classic and psychedelic rock ’n’ roll. He is a partner in Excello Recording Studios in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Excello's client list includes David Byrne, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Richard Hell, Deborah Harry and Taj Mahal.

Mayors' Interfaith Hybrid Prayer Breakfast set for Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Association of Churches is inviting the community to the Mayors’ Interfaith Hybrid Prayer Breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The event will be livestreamed by The Sacred Commons from St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. It can be accessed on MVAC's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

For more than 40 years, MVAC has hosted the annual interfaith event for public officials and people of faith.

At this year’s event, Struthers Mayor Catherine Cercone Miller will speak about the influence of faith on her public service; Jason Volovar, music director at St. Joseph Parish in Austintown, will play inspirational musical; and interfaith leaders will offer prayers for the community.

  • The Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble, conducted by Michael S. Butler, will perform a concert at 7:30 tonight at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Tickets, $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and free for anyone with a valid YSU ID, can be purchased here and at the door.
  • The Dana Chamber Brass Ensembles, directed by Andrew Mitchell, will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 201 Wick Ave. The concert is free and open to the public.

  • The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation is offering “Medicare 101” from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. At this free event, a representative from BOST will answer questions about Medicare for individuals retiring or turning 65 who want to know what options are available.
