WEEKEND MATTERS | Singer-songwriter Jann Klose to perform in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — Singer-songwriter Jann Klose will perform at JR’z Pub, 1722 South Raccoon Road, at 8 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
Klose has released six albums and two EPs. He was raised in Kenya, South Africa, Germany and the United States. His latest single, "Love You the Most/Te Amaré Más" from the movie soundtrack "Married Young," has been streamed more than 3 million times.
Klose is an ambassador for cleric and theologian Desmond Tutu's TutuDesk campaign and Brick by Brick Uganda. He is also the singing voice of Tim Buckley in the movie "Greetings from Tim Buckley."
His songs have been heard on the Grammy-nominated "Healthy Food For Thought" compilation, charted in the Billboard Top 10 compilation "Action Moves People United" and appeared on “MTV Cribs” and in movies "Dead Broke" and “One Little Finger.”
Klose has performed as an actor and singer in touring companies of Broadway musicals, including "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Jekyll and Hyde" and "The Who's Tommy."
Scrappers to face Frederick Keys in 3 games this weekend
NILES — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ home stand continues this weekend with three games against the Frederick Keys at Eastwood Field.
The teams will play at 7:05 p.m. today. It’s Buck Night, and general admission tickets, hot dogs and drinks are $1.
The ZOOperstars! will provide entertainment during Saturday’s game, which also will begin at 7:05 p.m.
On Sunday, bring a nonperishable food item for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley or new children's books and receive a free general admission ticket to the 4:05 p.m. game.

Jewish Community Center’s Logan Campus to open for summer
YOUNGSTOWN — The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will open its Logan Campus for the summer with a free open house for the community Monday and June 5 and 6.
The outdoor Logan Campus, 3245 Logan Way, offers a variety of options for JCC members and their guests, including sand volleyball, tennis and basketball courts; a newly painted pool; a pavilion; and a snack shack. Leagues are offered for sand volleyball and, new this year, cornhole. Catchball, a modified version of volleyball for women, is also available.
Live music, family nights and adult nights will be offered throughout the summer. Membership to the JCC includes both the Main Campus and Logan Campus.
All guests and members at Logan will receive a free hot dog and bottle of water. Any guest who completes the welcome form will be entered to win a JCC basket valued at $500. Guests who join during the open house will receive a mesh tote with goggles, T-shirt and a water bottle, and will be entered to win a free month of membership. A variety of contests, such as hula hoop and water balloon toss, will be included.
