Youngstown mayoral candidates to face off in online debate

YOUNGSTOWN — The three Youngstown mayoral candidates will participate in a live online debate Tuesday.

The debate can be viewed on WFMJ.com and Bertram de Souza's The Scribbler Publishing Group YouTube Channel and Facebook page at 7 p.m.

Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown, the Democratic incumbent, Tracey Winbush, the Republican nominee, and Richard Hill, an independent, will discuss the major challenges confronting Youngstown, including crime and population loss.

The candidates will be questioned by veteran journalists de Souza and Cynthia Rickard, who spent 40 and 41 years at the Youngstown Vindicator, and Rose Carter, executive director of ACTION, a multi-denominational grassroots organization.

The debate will take place in a studio at 21 WFMJ-TV in downtown Youngstown.

Viewers will have a chance to join in the live broadcast by calling in using the free Discord app, emailing questions and comments to youngstownmayordebate@gmail.com or commenting on the Scribbler Group YouTube channel and Facebook page.
