Youngstown to play for PONY League World Series championship

This is Youngstown’s second trip to the title game. The previous appearance was in 1955.

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Youngstown baseball team has the opportunity to bring home a championship today.

Youngstown will face Brownsville, Texas, in the championship game of the Dick’s Sporting Goods PONY League World Series at 6 p.m. You can watch the game here.

Youngstown advanced to the title game by beating Washington County, Pa., 11-0, on Tuesday.

Hunter Garvin led Youngstown’s offensive and defensive attack. He threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. He went 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored on the offensive side. 

This is Youngstown’s second trip to the PONY League World Series title game. The previous appearance was in 1955 in a 4-0 loss to Washington, Pa.
