Youngstown Water Department to resume collection procedures
YOUNGSTOWN — Starting July 20, the Youngstown Water Department will resume its standard collection procedures, including disconnection for nonpayment.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is ending the moratorium on water utility shutoffs Friday (July 10). The YWD suspended all disconnections for March, April, May and June, waived all fees and penalties and restored service to customers who were disconnected.
The department is encouraging customers to wear masks or facial coverings, wash and sanitize their hands before entering the building and stay at home if they are feeling sick. The number of customers in the lobby at the same time will be limited to four.
The department will follow these recommended guidelines to keep its employees safe:
- Workers will have their temperature taken upon entering the building.
- Workers are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
- Workers will sanitize and disinfect shared services frequently.
