YPD: Juvenile killed in apparent shooting

City police officers found the male dead in an apartment Thursday afternoon, according to a release.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Police Department reports a 16-year-old male has died from a gunshot wound.

Officers responded about 1:30 p.m. today to an apartment in the 2700 block of Hammaker Street, just north of Tod Field, on reports that a juvenile had been shot, according to a news release from the department.

They discovered him dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

A male juvenile was later taken into police custody for questioning, according to the report.

City police detectives and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office are investigating the incident.
