YSU celebrates homecoming this week

The highlight is Saturday's football game against rival South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University celebrates its 79th annual homecoming this week with events ranging from the Fall Fire Fest concert to the annual parade up Fifth Avenue to Saturday's football game against rival South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

Some of the highlights:

• Thursday, Oct. 10: Fall Fire Fest, 7 to 11 p.m., M71 parking lot, 351 Grant St., featuring New Jersey rapper and singer Topaz Jones headlines a concert which also features a bonfire and pep rally.

• Friday, Oct. 11: Silent Disco, 7 to 10 p.m., DoubleTree by Hilton Youngstown Downtown.

• Saturday, Oct. 12: Homecoming Parade, 4 p.m., Fifth Avenue; 6 p.m., Stambaugh Stadium, against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits; Homecoming king and queen crowning, halftime, Stambaugh Stadium.
