YSU students recognized at Model UN competition

YOUNGSTOWN — Several Youngstown State University students earned honors at the Lake Erie International Model UN competition earlier this fall. 

The YSU contingent of 14 students competed against teams from 15 universities. Local awardees include:

  • David Hofsess of Canfield received the Excellent Delegate Award for representing Cuba on the Historical Security Council. Hofsess also received the Historical Security Council Chair's gavel as a special distinction.
  • Kristen Howell of Youngstown received the Excellent Delegate Award for representing Indonesia on the Security Council.
  • Nadine Jones of Youngstown received the Excellent Delegate Award for representing the USSR on the Historical Security Council.
  • Carson Markley of Canfield received the Excellent Delegate Award for representing Cuba on the Historical Security Council. Markley also received the Parliamentarian's gavel as a special distinction.
  • Michael Factor of Canfield received the Excellent Delegate Award for representing the USSR on the Historical Security Council.
  • Daniel Naples of Youngstown received the Excellent Delegate Award for representing Hungary on NATO.
