Youngstown Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony set for today
YOUNGSTOWN — The City of Youngstown, Youngstown CityScape and title sponsor Home Savings Bank will present this year's Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony Friday (Dec. 6).
Festivities will begin at 4 p.m. at Central Square. The parade will start at 6 p.m. on East Federal Street near Commerce Street and will finish on West Federal Street at Vindicator Square. The tree lighting will take place after the parade — about 7:30 — followed by a short fireworks display and pictures with Santa in the lobby at 20 W. Federal St.
This year's grand marshall is Lou Zona of the Butler Institute of American Art.
The parade has a multitude of family-friendly activities, including music at Central Square. The Houseband will perform at 4 p.m., and Howard Howell & the Point Five Band will perform at 5 p.m.
Other activities coordinated with the parade include:
- Spruce Holiday Pop-Up Shop on North Phelps.
- Free admission to the Historical Center of Industry & Labor — 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Memories of Christmas Past at Arms Family Museum — noon to 4 p.m.
- Youngstown Holiday Flea at DeYor Performing Arts Center — 4 to 8 p.m.
- Free admission to OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science & Technology — 4 to 7 p.m.
- Free admission to the Tyler History Center — 4 to 7 p.m.
- Phamily Fun Night with the Phantoms at Covelli Centre. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
- "The Nutcracker" by Ballet Western Reserve at Stambaugh Auditorium — 8 p.m.
