YOUNGSTOWN — Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Youngstown is seeking donations to help provide winter utility assistance to individuals and families in need.

About 43 percent of the households in the Diocese of Youngstown have difficulty affording necessities, including food, shelter and heat during the winter months, according to a news release.

The Warm Hearts for Warm Homes campaign, formerly Keep the Kids Warm, assists households who do not qualify for government assistance; households waiting for Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus to authorize assistance; and households whose Home Energy Assistance Program benefits have been exhausted.

Catholic Charities serves people of all faiths and no faith as resources allow. Last year, Catholic Charities helped more than 5,100 people through its utility assistance efforts across the Diocese of Youngstown.
