American Legion Post in Canfield cancels Memorial Day service

CANFIELD — American Legion Post 177 has canceled this year's Memorial Day service and will have a limited service for only post members at Canfield East Cemetery.

In previous years, the service included a gathering at the Gazebo on the Village Green with a guest speaker; a performance by Canfield High School's Cardinal Pride Marching Band; a march to Canfield East Cemetery, where the Post Rifle Squad would fire over the graves of veterans; and a return to the War Vets Museum to recognize new names posted on the Wall of Honor.

The following veterans' names will be posted on the Wall of Honor this year, and they will be formally recognized at the 2021 Memorial Day service:

  • David S. Baker, World War II
  • Christopher Mazgaj Sr., Vietnam War
  • Thomas L. Phillips, World War II
  • Thomas Phillips, Vietnam War
  • Victor Richley, Korean War
  • Kenneth Snyder, World War II
