Meridian names Villaplana chief medical officer

YOUNGSTOWN — Meridian HealthCare has named Luis Villaplana, MD, as Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Villaplana has served the community for more than 30 years with his own private practice and will now bring his expertise and knowledge to Meridian's medical team.

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Villaplana will focus on the integration of behavioral health and primary care services while continuing to provide quality care to all patients.

"I am excited to join the Meridian team, who have established themselves as leaders in the community when it comes to integrated care," said Dr. Villaplana in a news release. "I want to provide guidance, education and high quality of care for our patients, as well as teach the next generations of medical professionals about the humanistic qualities that should be at the forefront of medicine and our relationship with those who seek our help and advice."

Dr. Villaplana will oversee Meridian's primary care facilities in Howland and Youngstown, Meridian's Medication Assisted Treatment Programs in Youngstown and Warren and Meridian's Withdrawal Management Program in Youngstown.
