There’s an opportunity for K-12 students interested in enrolling in Catholic school education to gain financial assistance for tuition.

After Ohio House Bill 33 was signed into law on July 4, EdChoice Scholarships now apply to Catholic school tuition.

“We are excited for this opportunity for our current families as well as for new families, who may have considered a Catholic education before but felt that it was out of their financial reach,” said Mary Fiala, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Youngstown. “As we have always done, we welcome Catholic families as well as any family who desires a faith-filled environment for their family.”

Some schools in the Diocese of Youngstown include Cardinal Mooney in Youngstown, Holy Family in Poland, John F. Kennedy Catholic Schools in Warren and Ursuline High School in Youngstown.

Here’s a complete list of Catholic Diocese schools in northeast Ohio.

This budget is balanced, it provides tax cuts to working families, and it invests in economic and workforce development while promoting educational freedom with the expansion of the EdChoice Scholarship,” said Lt. Governor Jon Husted. “It was also great to see our efforts to require parental notification for social media included, along with much of our work to eliminate unnecessary and outdated regulations through CSI’s Innovate the Code initiative.”

How to apply

Prospective Catholic school students and students already enrolled in Catholic schools are eligible, according to the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown.

Parents can contact the principal at the school of their choice to inquire about availability for new enrollments or to learn more about how to apply.
