BUSINESS UPDATES | Sweet Memories Vintage Tees presents check for nearly $12K to Akron Children’s
Sweet Memories Vintage Tees last week presented an $11,907 check to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Linda Barton founded Sweet Memories Vintage Tees in 2020 to create officially licensed apparel featuring Good Humor ice cream, which originated in Youngstown. A percentage of the company’s sales benefit local charities, a news release states.
The company has expanded its apparel with trademark approval for vintage brands such as Andes Mints, BOSCO, Caramel Apple Pops, Charleston Chew, Cella’s Cherries, Dubble Bubble, Dum-Dums, NECCO, Nik-L-Nip, PEZ, Smarties, Sweethearts, Wack-O-Wax, Popsicle and Starkist Tuna.
“We are just getting started,” Barton said in the release. “Initially, our first licensing agreement was just Good Humor. In 2021 we have added 39 new licensing agreements and 68 new designs.”
The company is releasing a Patriot line this year, featuring officially licensed U.S. Army apparel. A portion of the sales will be donated to a veterans cause, the release states.
Sweet Memories Vintage Tees also formed a partnership with National Packard Museum and will donate 20% of the proceeds from apparel sales to the preservation of the museum’s history, the release states.
