BUSINESS UPDATES | Youngstown-based agencies team up to create March Madness commercial for ladder company
Youngstown-based agencies Cinemanix and Clever will be a part of March Madness.
Cinemanix, a full-service media production company, partnered with Clever’s creative team to create a national TV commercial for the Werner Co. and its sponsorship of the 2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament, a news release states.
Werner is the official ladder sponsor of the tournament and is known for the winning team’s using the company’s ladder to cut down the net.
“To have the opportunity to work with such a respected brand for one of the biggest sporting events in the country is a tremendous honor and one we were proud to be a part of,” Maz Mawlawi, production director for Cinemanix, said in the release.
The commercial features Mahoning Valley talent and basketball players Kaden Lowe of Hubbard High School and Ronnie Leonard of Struthers High School, and filming took place at Hubbard High School and the soon-to-open Penguin City Beer.

Teacher job fair scheduled for March 30
The Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio, 7320 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield, will host a teacher job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 30.
Recent and upcoming graduates in education, credentialed teachers, substitute teachers and substitute teacher candidates will be able to meet with recruiters and district administrators to learn about teaching opportunities available in the area, a news release states.
Candidates are asked to bring copies of their resumes and any student teaching portfolio materials.
The school districts who will be recruiting at the job fair include Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Columbiana, East Palestine, Jackson-Milton, Lowellville, Sebring, South Range, Struthers, West Branch, Western Reserve and Youngstown. ESC of Eastern Ohio, Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments and Youngstown Community School will also be recruiting at the event.
Packard Music Hall looks to fill full-time manager position
Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, is looking to hire a front-of-house manager/assistant building manager.
The position is full-time and will oversee all operational functions of the “front of house,” including box office, food and beverage, event day staff and general business functions related to operating the facility, a news release states.

Joan Lawson appointed diocesan archivist for Diocese of Youngstown
The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, announced Tuesday the appointment of Joan Lawson as diocesan archivist.
Lawson assumed the position effective March 1. The diocesan archivist is a new position that provides administrative and policy leadership for the diocesan archives, records management program and electronic document management systems, a news release states.
Lawson will serve as liaison with those accessing the archives, including diocesan offices, parishes, schools and researchers. She will also serve as historian for special publications and programs, the release states.
“Joan is the perfect person to lead our efforts to care for and document our history. With her experience and training in both history and ministry, she will help us dream of new ways to tell our story and build on that story as we live the mission of the church,” Bonnar said in the release.
Lawson, a native of Youngstown, previously was assistant director of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society. She also served at the Adams National Historic Site, the Quincy Historical Society and the Danvers Historical Society in Massachusetts, as well as the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, Belfast, for the Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh.
