BUSINESS UPDATES | Jackson-Milton students collect more than 2,000 snacks for kids at rescue mission

Students at Jackson-Milton Elementary School collected more than 2,000 snacks for children at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

Corinne Tomaino’s first-grade class organized a schoolwide Snacks for Kids drive. The students created posters to hang throughout the school, helped collect snacks from their friends and family and organized and counted all the donations, a news release states.

The class surpassed its goal of collecting 1,000 snacks during the two-week drive. Representatives from the rescue mission picked up the snacks Tuesday.

Partnership offers free college benefits for Panera employees

Eastern Gateway Community College and Covelli Enterprises are partnering to offer free college benefits to nearly 6,000 Ohio-based Panera Bread employees and their families.

The benefit began this semester, and programs are offered both at the college and online, a news release states.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our team members and their families to earn college credit with no out-of-pocket costs,” Sam Covelli, CEO of Covelli Enterprises, said in the release. “Without the traditional barriers of scheduling and cost, employees will have the tools and flexibility they need to fit college into their lives.”

Eligibility will be determined by Covelli Enterprises but will initially be offered to employees in good standing, according to the release.

Employees will be able to enroll in any online program offered by Eastern Gateway.

Arcane Elements to have ribbon-cutting ceremony

Arcane Elements, 584 E. Main St., Suite 20, Canfield, will celebrate its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday.

Arcane Elements offers products such as crystals, homemade organic soy candles (with crystals and herbs in them), natural bath and body products, essential oils, crystal jewelry, divination cards, sage and incense, apparel and loose leaf tea, a news release states.

The shop also offers services such as card and mediumship readings, classes and workshops. It also has a paranormal team that does free investigations.

The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
