BUSINESS UPDATES | Students’ pizza to be offered at Pizza Joe’s in North Lima
Pizza Joe’s in North Lima, 11740 South Ave., will offer a special limited-edition pizza from 4 to 6 p.m. June 27.
The Mac N’ Cheese Supreme pizza was created by a team of students from Heartland Christian School in Columbiana as part of Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley’s Innovation Virtual Challenge.
The winning team, The Bacon Bunch, included students Abby Ellis, Lila Hendershott, Brennan Murray and Gabriella McDowell.
The challenge featured fifth- through seventh-grade students from Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties who worked in teams of three to five to “develop a pitch for a new flavor of pizza for Pizza Joe’s that targets a market of their peers,” according to a news release.
“Students practice their entrepreneurial thinking while experiencing the creativity and sense of accomplishment that comes from solving a real-world problem: developing a new flavor of pizza,” Michele Merkel, president of Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley, said in the release.
“We are looking forward to our event on June 27 at North Lima Pizza Joe’s and The Bacon Bunch getting the chance to sell their winning Mac N’ Cheese Supreme pizza to the North Lima community and hopefully customers in surrounding communities,” Katie Seminara-DeToro, chief marketing officer of Pizza Joe’s, said in the release.
