BUSINESS UPDATES | 898 Marketing partners with USFL to promote postseason games

The United States Football League is partnering with Youngstown-based marketing and communications company 898 Marketing to promote the league’s inaugural playoff and championship games.

898 Marketing is responsible for “strategic media planning and buying of traditional, digital and social efforts to create awareness and drive ticket sales,” according to a news release. The company is also managing media relations in Youngstown, Cleveland, Columbus and western Pennsylvania for the USFL’s postseason.

“We are proud and honored to have earned the trust of the USFL to deliver accountable solutions, ensuring success and excitement for its inaugural playoffs and championship here in Northeast Ohio,” Jeff Ryznar, president of 898 Marketing, said in the release.

The USFL’s postseason games will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Two playoff games will be played on June 25, and the championship game will be played on July 3. Tickets can be purchased at the USFL’s and Pro Football Hall of Fame’s websites.

Rotary Club of Youngstown to donate $10K to library

The Rotary Club of Youngstown will donate $10,000 to the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County’s newly renovated Main Library.

A check will be presented to Aimee Fifarek, the library’s executive director, at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Main Library, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown, according to a news release. The funds came from the Youngstown Rotary Foundation and the Groundhog Craft Beerfest fundraiser, the release states.

The 12-person meeting room at the library will be named after the Rotary Club of Youngstown.

Courtyard Marriott Youngstown Canfield earns service awards

Courtyard Marriott Youngstown Canfield recently announced that it has earned two service awards for 2021, including the Marriott Diamond Circle Award.

The hotel at 4173 Westford Place, Canfield, is owned by CTW Development Corp. and managed by Kennsington Hospitality.

The Diamond Circle Award is given to “top performing hotels in the brand that exceed the Marriott benchmark in all areas including guest satisfaction scores, financials and RevPAR performance,” a news release states. This is the fourth year in a row the hotel has received the award.

The hotel also received a Guest Service Satisfaction Award in Food and Beverage, which is given to the hotel with the highest score in each category, the release states.

“I am very proud of our Courtyard Canfield team,” Chuck Whitman, owner of the hotel, said in the release. “We developed the property to attract people to the community, and we are thankful to the guests and Marriott for recognizing the exceptional experience our team works hard to create.”

Frutta Bowls, Saladworks operate co-branded restaurant in Hermitage

Frutta Bowls, which specializes in açai bowls, and Saladworks, a fast-casual entree salad franchise, are operating a co-branded restaurant at 2429 E. State St., Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

In addition to a variety of chef-created signature recipes, the new restaurant offers create-your-own options, including salads, wraps and bowls, a news release states. The restaurant features more than 60 fresh, healthy ingredients.

Frutta Bowls and Saladworks are part of the WOWorks franchise.

“We are excited to bring our co-branded WOWorks restaurant to Hermitage and offer the tasty menu items Frutta Bowls and Saladworks are known for,” Lauriena Borstein, WOWorks’ senior vice president and brand general manager, said in the release.

“There are a lot of options for fast food in the area, but with the growth of more people living healthy lifestyles, we want Frutta Bowls and Saladworks to establish itself as Hermitage’s go-to spot for healthy, delicious food served fast,” Borstein said.
