BUSINESS ROUNDUP | Sharon Letson installed as Rotary Club of Youngstown president
Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape, was recently named the new president of the Rotary Club of Youngstown.
Letson was installed by Michelle Charles of the Rotary Club of Canton and district governor of Rotary District 6650 on July 6, the first club meeting of the new Rotary year, a news release states.
During the meeting, Scott Schulick, past president of the Rotary Club of Youngstown and Rotary District 6650, recognized four past female district governors in attendance: Debbie Esbenshade, Linda Ferguson, Suzanne Fleming and Sieglinde Warren, the release states.
New and returning board members were also formally installed, as were members of the Youngstown Rotary Foundation board.
OTHER BUSINESS UPDATES
RIBBON-CUTTINGS: Brookfall Group will celebrate the completion of a renovation project at Patricia Real Estate Apartments on Patricia Drive in Girard on Tuesday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. HD Davis CPAs will celebrate the grand opening of a new office at 4308 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday.
GOVERNOR APPOINTMENT: Gov. Mike DeWine has reappointed James Adorno Armile of Poland to the Ohio Athletic Commission, a news release states. Armile’s term will begin Sept. 3 and end Sept. 2, 2025.
OH WOW! DEPARTURE: Ralf Urbach, director of education at OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology in Youngstown, will leave the center Aug. 12 to become the STEM and manufacturing director trainer for Campbell City Schools. “Although we are sad to see Mr. Ralf go, we are immensely excited for him in this new journey,” Marvin Logan, OH WOW!’s executive director, said in a news release.
MINI GRANT APPLICATIONS: The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley is seeking applications for its sixth annual Autism Teacher Mini Grant Program. Awards will be given in three denominations, $500, $250 and $100, to applicants from public and private schools in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties, a news release states. Applications will be accepted here through Aug. 13.
DONATIONS SOUGHT: Protestant Family Service of Youngstown is seeking donations to provide $50 vouchers for “needy children to be able to purchase new clothes/shoes for the school year,” a news release states.
