BUSINESS ROUNDUP | Job seekers, families invited to Community Career Fair
A Community Career Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20 in Warren.
The event at the Community Family Outreach Complex, 2165 Highland Ave., is part job fair and part community event, a news release states. Job seekers and their families are invited to attend.
Ultium Cells, ClarkDietrich, Foxconn, Trumbull Regional Hospital and Sharon Regional Hospital are among the companies expected to participate in the event, the release states.
Information about WorkAdvance, a paid training program designed to give inexperienced job seekers job-readiness skills for careers in advanced manufacturing, will be available.
While job seekers “meet with employers and receive guidance with resume reviews, job-seeking tips and mock interviews,” their children can participate in hands-on activities.
“Holding a career fair on a Saturday and encouraging job seekers to bring their families is all about eliminating barriers to local employment opportunities,” Alex Hertzer, assistant executive director for the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition, one of the event organizers, said in the release. “Oftentimes, it’s challenging for job seekers to attend hiring events on a weekday, whether due to their schedules or child care concerns, so this one addresses both obstacles.”
Along with the MVMV, the event is being coordinated by Ohio To Work, National Center for Urban Solutions, Flying High, United Returning Citizens and Ohio Means Jobs.
