Sheely’s Furniture and Appliance is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a donation program to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital.
Customers will receive $70 off every $1,000 spent when they donate to Akron Children’s Hospital through Sept. 10, according to a news release.
“Looking back with gratitude on our 70 years of furniture and appliance sales to the region is certainly reason to celebrate,” Lance Romeo, Sheely’s buyer and principal owner, said in the release.
Jessica Smith, another principal owner, attributes Sheely’s success to its customers.
“We recognize our customers, many of whom are now second and third generation with us,” Smith said.
Sheely’s has locations at 11450 South Ave., North Lima, and 18813 N. Marketplace Drive, Aurora.

WOMEN’S PANTRY: The Youngstown City Health District will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday for its new Women’s Pantry at the Reproductive Health and Wellness Clinic, 9 W. Front St., Youngstown. The Women’s Pantry offers feminine hygiene products for free to those in need, a news release states. The Reproductive Health and Wellness Clinic offers free diapers, Medicaid application assistance, pregnancy testing and referrals.
BRITE VISIT: U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, visited BRITE Energy Innovators in Warren on Monday to tour the facility and discuss the benefits of the recently passed CHIPS and Science Act. “With the CHIPS Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, we are finally putting in place a real industrial policy — it’s a new approach that puts American workers and American production first,” Brown said in a news release. “This is going to help nurture start-ups like the ones here at BRITE. It’s not enough to invent new technologies here — we have to make sure they’re commercialized in Ohio, that they grow new industries in Ohio, and that they create jobs in Ohio.”
NALOXBOX INSTALLATION: The Coalition for a Drug-Free Mahoning County is recognizing National Overdose Awareness Day with the installation of a NaloxBox at the Boardman Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave., on Wednesday. A NaloxBox is “a specialized emergency preparedness kit that contains Narcan and is housed on-site for use in case of a suspected opioid-related emergency,” a news release states. A NaloxBox was installed at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Liberty in 2021.
GREENWOOD RECOGNIZED: Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown recently received the President’s Club Award, which “honors dealers for their collaboration with GM Financial and providing excellent customer service,” a news release states. The dealership is the only one in the Mahoning Valley and one of only three in Ohio to receive the award, the release states.
