“Cupcakes for a good cause.” Poland bakery benefits Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley
For National Cupcake Day, one Mahoning Valley baker is giving back to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.
On Dec. 13, the owner of Bake Me Treats, Gabriele Barnhizer, is donating cupcakes.
For every cupcake purchased at Bake Me Treats, Barnhizer will make an equal number of cupcakes to give to those staying at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.
Then the cupcakes will be delivered to the Rescue Mission clients on Dec. 20.
“We’re excited to partner with the Rescue Mission on National Cupcake Day again this year because it is another opportunity for us to give back, and I can’t think of a sweeter way to do it. It also gives people a great reason to treat themselves to a cupcake, for a good cause,” Barnhizer said.
Barnhizer said Bake Me Treats has been working with the Rescue Mission for three years, donating leftover sweets at the end of the week.
“It is so gratifying knowing that our leftovers are contributing to an organization that helps people and that our treats are going to those in need rather than being wasted,” she said.
Visit Bake Me Treats from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday at 16 South Main St. in Poland.
According to the Rescue Mission, this partnership with Bake Me Treats brings a sense of joy and normalcy to the clients, as well as shows them the community cares about them.
