Mahoning County native returning to hometown to help run grocery store opening in May
A new Meijer grocery store is expected to open this spring, and a Mahoning County native is looking forward to returning to his hometown to run day-to-day operations.
Store director Patrick Hughes is getting ready to open the new Austintown Meijer, creating 325 new job opportunities.
There are still job openings he’s looking to fill at the supercenter coming to 5800 Mahoning Ave. in Austintown in May, according to Hughes.
“I’m excited for customers to experience our friendly shopping experience and exceptional customer service, and see the selection of fresh produce and the great value that Meijer offers,” Hughes said.
There’s also a new Meijer Express gas station opening in April as part of the new supercenter.
“I’m really looking forward to welcoming our new neighbors in the doors and getting more established as a great partner in the community of Austintown,” Hughes said.
Hughes is originally from the Mahoning Valley and said he’s looking forward to returning to the area with his family.
“My journey with Meijer has taken us all through the great state of Ohio with stops all around Cleveland, Columbus and Youngstown,” he said. “I highly recommend downloading the mPerks app to start earning points on your first trip, and I also recommend our line of Frederik’s products – especially the Kettle Chips.”
Check out the available part-time and full-time jobs online and submit an application. Starting pay is based on experience level and specific skills.
Meijer is “dedicated to taking care of its team members through benefits,” according to Hughes, which includes weekly pay, a team member discount, paid parental leave, career advancement opportunities, access to health insurance options and the option for 401k retirement planning.
“We look forward to being a one-stop-shop for our neighbors and supporting our community,” he said.
