Downtown Youngstown eatery announces closure, community reacts

A popular Mahoning Valley eatery has announced it is closing. Gringo’s in downtown Youngstown notified the community via social media on Tuesday.

In the post, management stated it has gone through many challenges and tried to stay positive.

“We have lived through many challenges and always had the positive ‘it will get better mentality’ but you can only keep saying that so long,” the post read.

Many in the community expressed their sadness over the closure and thanked the restaurant and management for many wonderful memories.

“Thank you for all the wonderful food and fun time we’ve had with our friends there,” one customer posted.

In the post, management also expressed gratitude to the community saying “We will forever remember all the memories with the friends and family that have supported us throughout these years.”

Gringo’s was at 24 North Phelps Street in Youngstown.
