Restaurant revises operating hours to stay afloat in downtown Youngstown
The Federal serves up some of the Mahoning Valley’s best-tasting burgers, decorates to the max for holiday-themed pop-up events and offers cocktails and craft brews from around town.
But according to a recent Facebook post, management made the difficult choice to adjust hours of operation moving forward due to fewer customers and downtown construction.
“We’ve had to make tough calls — cutting hours, trimming staff — just to keep going,” The Federal wrote on Facebook. “We’re still here. We’re still cooking. We still believe in what this place can be.”
Moving forward, The Federal is open from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. – midnight Friday and Saturday.
“We hope to begin expanding hours again once we see some signs of life returning downtown,” the Federal wrote online.
In the post, The Federal cited ongoing Smart 2 construction projects, shrinking number of nearby businesses and less foot traffic as part of the reason for adjusting their hours.
“Love our downtown restaurants,” OH WOW! Science Center commented. “Free parking at the corner of Commerce and Wick! Easy access to everything downtown. Explore Mahoning has a great map available too.”
