Local vendors return for third annual downtown Salem maker’s market
Salem residents are hosting several coinciding community events to bring together families for a celebration of local artisans, farmers and the pride of Columbiana County.
The third annual nature+nurture maker’s market on Aug. 9 will feature live music, handcrafted gifts and coffee for sale, as well as arts and crafts activities for all ages.
The market is put together by nature+nurture, an independent bookstore located at 515 East State St. in Salem.
It’s one of four events happening in a jam-packed day in downtown Salem alongside Freed Fest, the Salem High School Alumni Association Alumni Weekend and the Salem Farm Market.
During the nature+nurture maker’s market, vendors and entrepreneurs will be set up from 10:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. along the sidewalk and block surrounding nature+nurture on East State Street.
Studio of Fine Arts by Anissa DiLeo is setting up an art station for kids and hosting a community project, while Jen’s Paint Cellar is showcasing a gallery of kids’ art projects completed this year.
Hitting the Highway with Hannah will be setting up butterfly selfie stations and a fairy scavenger hunt.
Check out Meg’s Coffee Trailer selling caffeinated beverages locally sourced from Lib’s Market, and more vendors including La Petite Crochet LLC, Olive & Ivy Boutique, Red Lightning Custom Woodworking and Wild Roots Soap Co.
For the third annual event, shoot free archery with On Target Canfield in the Ohio Department of Natural Resources truck.
Learn about animal tracks and pelts with the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, as well as Columbiana County Park District’s resources like the Greenway Bike Trail.
From 10 a.m. - noon, enjoy music in the front alcove of nature+nurture performed by Bearcat Acoustic, as well as Humbles County and Danny McMaster who are playing from noon - 3 p.m. in the back of the store.
At 3 p.m., Salem Music Center will feature drum and guitar students on the stage at McCulloch Park.
The Salem Farm Market is happening every Saturday this summer, including on Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on South Broadway.
The annual Salem High School Alumni Association’s open house will also be happening downtown from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Aug. 9 at 330 E State St.
On Aug. 10, head to Waterworth Memorial Park for the Salem High School Alumni Night Summer Concert beginning at 6 p.m. featuring Jimmy and The Soul Blazers and a “Cars of the Decades” display.
