“Don’t knock it till you try it.” Warren restaurant/bar spotlights unique menu
Since opening in 2023, the food at a Warren restaurant and bar has impressed the surrounding Mahoning Valley community, most notably the award-winning burgers.
Mallory Cupp has been at Urban Tap and Distillery in Warren since owners Matt and Jesse MacGregor first opened their doors, working as a hostess, server and sometimes helps in the kitchen.
“This is probably one of the best spots in the area,” Cupp said. “Our patio is awesome. It’s all enclosed. We’re kind of off by ourselves. There’s not many other huge businesses on each side of us.”
At Urban Tap, there’s a full-service bar and local beers are on tap.
In the kitchen, the fries are cut fresh daily before being thoroughly rinsed and double fried, making them a “big hit,” according to Cupp.
“Our bosses and the chefs that we have here are super creative. They’ve been in the restaurant business their entire lives,” Cupp said. “Our syrups here are also made fresh in house.”
Urban Tap and Distillery was selected as the area’s Best Burger and Best Tavern by the Tribune Chronicle this summer, according to Cupp. Fan-favorite burgers on the menu include the Urban Bourbon burger and the peanut butter jalapeño bacon burger.
“The customers love our food; I don’t think I’ve gotten a complaint since I started here,” she said. “Everything is fresh, nothing is frozen. And the weird menu items, customers are like, ‘What the heck?’ But most of the people that work here have tried it so we can give them a pretty good idea. I say, ‘Don’t knock it till you try it.’”
