Meet new owner continuing dance studio’s legacy in Boardman for past 60 years

For over 60 years, dancers in the Mahoning County area have gathered to learn at a dance studio on Market Street in Boardman called Sandy Bees.

This year, Sandy handed over the reins to Payton DiBernardo, the new owner of the studio which is now called PEAK Dance and Gymnastics Company.

PEAK stands for positive empowerment, acceptance and kindness, which DiBernardo believes are necessary to create a nurturing learning environment.

She’s hosting a ribbon cutting at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 at 8381 Market St. in Boardman alongside the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber to mark the beginning of this new chapter for the studio.

“I am so honored to step into this role and carry on a tradition that has brought joy, belonging and movement to so many lives,” DiBernardo said. “The studio’s incredible team of instructors remains the heart of this space, and I’m humbled to continue the journey with them.”

Founder Sandy will continue to teach one day a week, guiding students she’s mentored since childhood.
