Which stores are back in northeast Ohio as Big Lots celebrates grand reopening?

Northeast Ohio and Mahoning Valley shoppers are once again able to browse at Big Lots! after the company’s nationwide restructuring and reopening.

At the beginning of 2025, Variety Wholesalers bought the Big Lots! brand and 219 store locations across 15 U.S. states.

Throughout the year, Big Lots! company leaders said they received “overwhelming customer support” about the comeback and announced the official grand reopening celebration.

Lisa Seigies is Variety Wholesalers’ CEO and president who says Big Lots! returning customers will see an expanded selection of furniture options, apparel for all ages, non-perishable grocery staples and seasonal items.

“Our store teams have been working incredibly hard to get shelves stocked and the doors open,” she said. “We’re proud to celebrate and kick-off the holiday season with something special. We encourage customers who visited stores when we first opened to come back and see our expanded selection. Our assortment of items continues to get better every day.”

Bruce Thorn, Big Lots’ president and CEO, said they worked closely with Variety Wholesalers and the Gordon Brothers Retail Partners on the restructuring plan.

“We are pleased to close this strategic transaction, which provides a framework to preserve thousands of jobs, maximize value, and maintain the Big Lots brand,” Thorn said. “We are grateful for the continued hard work and dedication of Big Lots associates across the company.”

We can’t wait to celebrate our grand opening with fun events, surprises and a Christmas 2025 collection customers are going to love.”
