Community invited to explore over 900 pumpkins on display at Canfield market
Back in October of 2020, a resident named Ty Hanes displayed around 170 carved pumpkins in his front yard, a family-inspired hobby he picked back up during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Crowds showed up to see intricately-carved pumpkins proudly lined up in the front yard of the Hanes home in Poland, and encouraged Hanes to bring the display back next year.
Hanes didn’t charge anyone for coming to walk through the display, but instead turned the attraction into a donation-based fundraiser for local charities.
By 2023, the popularity of Ty’s Pumpkin Walk had grown so much that he had to move to a new location in order to accomodate for parking.
Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Ty’s Pumpkin Walk is open at Angiuli’s Farm Market from 6 - 9 p.m. through the end of October.
During the second year of Ty’s Pumpkin Walk, community members helped donate $2,000 for Mahoning County Special Olympics. In 2023, the walk raised over $11,800 for The Squeaky Wheel Theatre Company’s Special Needs Program.
This year, donations will be equally split between three organizations: DIVA Donations, All About Pawz Rescue and Goodness Grows.
