Dandelion Inc. founder empowers women-owned businesses around Youngstown

Lisa Resnick is the founder of Dandelion Inc., offering tools, live sessions, one-on-one consultations and resources for women who are business owners and entrepreneurs in the Youngstown area.

What inspired you to start Dandelion Inc.?

“I was a pretty successful broker in real estate when I was back in D.C., and then restarted everything all over again when I decided to move back with my family to my hometown around Youngstown,” she said. “I created Homes and Hop because I read online in an article that was in Britain about how local breweries have positively impacted the residential real estate market. After I dove into that, I wanted to find out whether that transposes over here in the U.S. and it 100% did.”

Through Homes and Hops, Resnick organized a 5-K and connected with Suzanne Barbati at OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology.

OH WOW! hosts an event called Science of Brewing, which Resnick said made perfect sense after she started Homes and Hopes.

Resnick was inspired to start Dandelion Inc. after a book recommendation from Barbati.

It’s called What’s Your Shine?: A Method for Discovering Who You Are and Why It Matters by Dr. Claudia Beeny.

“It makes you think about the things that you like to do,” Resnick said. “I love one-on-one conversations like the ones I had with these local brewers. At first, Dandelion Inc. was just going to be focused on marketing for women who own businesses, but you have to listen to those that you’re serving.”

In addition to marketing tools for a woman-owned business, Dandelion Inc. hosts monthly meetings with speakers who share their stories.

Dandelion Inc. offers additional consultation options and training programs like developing business plans and maximizing productivity as a one-woman operation.

“I am doing what I loved doing in real estate, which is helping people reach their goals, whether it be in purchasing a home or finding that commercial property that was going to accelerate the things that they were doing in their own retail, office or industrial space,” Resnick said. “With Dandelion Inc., I’m helping other women reach their goals... asking questions that they might not be asking, having those consultations and creating connections.”

Paige Collins is the founder of All Spruced Up, a home cleaning service in Youngstown.

“Lisa has created a safe space through Dandelion Inc. for other females to come and learn from one another in addition to encouraging us through the highs and lows of life and business,” Collins said. “The speakers are always fantastic. I enjoy every event I go to. I always leave feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle the world.”
