Mahoning Valley movie theater to close after more than a decade in business

A Mahoning Valley movie theater is closing its doors after more than a decade in business. Boardman Movies 8 in Youngstown announced via social media it will be permanently closing.

In a video posted on Facebook Tuesday, a representative thanked the community for the ongoing support over the years as well as employees for their many years of service.

The theater has been open in the Valley for 11 years.

One customer commented that the theater is where she went on her first date with her now husband.

Another wrote she had been going to the theater since she was a kid.

“So many great memories made there as a kid, then as a parent to witness my kids first movies there,” the post read. “Hold this place so dear to my heart and I wish I had pictures from it and I still have my movie cup from there at my nanas and it was the coolest cup and doing the movie rollercoaster ride before the movie starts was such a beautiful memory. Came a few weeks ago to see Casper.”

The community is encouraged to stop by for a movie or even just movie snacks before the theater’s last day on December 31.

Movies 8 Boardman is at 469 Boardman Poland Road in Youngstown.
