Salem Area Chamber of Commerce honors 2 as businesses of the year

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual meeting, honoring a non-profit organization, two longtime businesses and the founder of the new Salem Ohio Military Flag initiative.

Gordon Bros. Water is a family-owned water treatment company that’s been operating for 80 years.

Four generations of the Gordon family have run the business from the same location since 1945 in Salem.

Associates and installation experts are trained to answer questions about softening water using the Kinetico Water Systems, starting with a free analysis and estimate on treatments throughout the Mahoning Valley area.

They’re a four-generation and family-owned custom metal fabrication company with 400,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities spread across seven locations.

Hickey Metal Fabrication was founded by Leo R. Hickey in 1942.

Hickey Metal Fabrication is still headquartered in Salem, offering customers a large selection of custom steel and aluminum products like toolboxes and flanges.

Debbie Leggett received the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year award.

She’s the founder of the Salem Ohio Military Flag Program, a new initiative kicking off in Apirl of 2026.

With support from community members and in collaboration with Zach Baker, Leggett is bringing custom flags to historic downtown Salem honoring veterans and active-duty service members.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce selected The ROC of Salem Youth Center as the non-profit organization of the year.

The outreach center serves students between 10 years old and 17 years old, providing a safe environment.

Run by director JW Linam and local volunteers, the ROC of Salem Youth Center hosts worship services and all-night lock-ins for youth with free food and activities.
