Overview
The German automaker introduces the 2025 BMW M4 performance coupe and convertible as an updated version of this nameplate's second generation. It blends track performance with everyday usability. Buyers can choose rear-wheel drive or BMW's M xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The M4 is also still available for purists with a six-speed row-your-own transmission, making it one of the few cars in this segment to still offer three pedals. It competes against the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 and Ford Mustang; however, thanks to its performance, it also faces the Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche 911.
What's New for 2025?
Competition xDrive models gain 20 horsepower, now producing 523 hp. All versions adopt redesigned LED headlights with arrowhead daytime running lights and laser-accented taillights inspired by the M4 CSL.
Inside, the Curved Display with iDrive 8.5 replaces the previous system, combining a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen. Revised steering wheels and new interior trim finishes complete the update. Additional interior trim options, such as Dark Graphite matte and Finely Polished Aluminum, complete the refresh.
A new CS replaces last year's CSL, losing 45 pounds and gaining another 20 hp for a total of 543 hp. It is offered in two exclusive metallics - Marina Bay Blue and Frozen Tanzanite Blue. The CS also comes in a CS Edition VR46 this year, celebrating Valentino Rossi's 46th birthday. Rossi is a current BMW Motorsport works driver and 9-time motorcycle racing champ.
Exterior
The 2025 M4 retains its bold, polarizing front fascia with a large vertical kidney grilles and newly updated LED lighting. Wide fenders, large air intakes, and quad exhaust outlets reinforce its performance focus. The Coupe features a carbon-fiber roof, while staggered wheels measure 18/19 inches on the base trim and 19/20 inches on Competition models. The Convertible's soft top operates at speeds up to 31 mph, and doesn't compromise the car's athletic stance.
Interior
The M4's cabin blends performance cues with premium materials. Extended Merino leather is standard, and the Curved Display features M-specific graphics with configurable performance data.
Standard equipment includes heated sport seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and a Harman Kardon audio system. Optional carbon bucket seats enhance track support. Rear-seat space is respectable for a coupe, offering 34.7 inches of legroom. Trunk capacity measures 15.5 cubic feet in the Coupe, while the Convertible provides between 10.6 and 13.6 cu-ft, depending on roof position.

Cons:

Verdict
The 2025 BMW M4 Coupe remains one of the most complete performance coupes available. Its twin-turbocharged inline-six delivers strong acceleration across all trims, while precise steering and a rigid chassis reward enthusiastic drivers.
The base manual model appeals to purists, but the Competition Coupe strikes the best balance of power and value. With meaningful 2025 updates and few direct rivals matching its performance-to-luxury blend, the M4 continues to anchor its segment.
