Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutors Kevin Day and Patrick Fening on Friday announced they successfully secured guilty verdicts convicting Thomas Spencer of two counts of gross sexual imposition, felonies of the third degree.

Officials said the verdict was handed down after one day of testimony and one day of jury selection in Judge Maureen Sweeney’s court.

Spencer was found guilty of forcing sexual contact with a 7-year-old in 2023. Spencer was alone with the victim at a gathering, when the sexual conduct occurred, according to county officials.

“We are pleased with the jury’s verdict,” said Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro.

Maro credits the Boardman Police Department’s investigation and hard work that led to a strong case against Spencer.

Spencer will be sentenced at a later date.
