The Boardman Police Department said it has identified a man from the shooting and traffic crash that happened on July 11.

The department’s investigation led to Eugene Thompkins, 35, from Youngstown, according to a BPD press release. Warrants were issued for Thompkins’ arrest for two counts of attempted murder, four counts of felonious assault and one count of improperly discharging firearm at or into a habitation.

Other individuals inside the vehicle with Thompkins are also under investigation, BPD stated.

On July 11, BPD responded at 7:20 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Meadowbrook Avenue, as well as a traffic crash at the intersection of Market Street and Meadowbrook in Boardman.

Officials said two women in their early 20s and two children under the age of 5 were stopped at the red light at Southern Boulevard and Meadowbrook when at least 10 rounds were fired toward the vehicle from a black Chevy Cruz, injuring both women.

According to the press release, the victims attempted to flee the area immediately but became involved in a traffic crash at Market Street and Meadowbrook, where the vehicle rolled over.

Thompkins is considered armed and dangerous, BPD stated, and anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at (330) 726-4144.
