The William Swanston Charitable Fund, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, awarded $10,000 to the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown for Early Learning Center enrichment programming.

The funds will be used for swimming programs and a multipurpose space, a news release states.

The JCC’s ELC program is designed to help students achieve their goals and give them the necessary skills needed for a successful educational journey, the release states.

The multipurpose space will provide a soft exploratory space for infant and toddler gross-motor development, and will include climbing implements, pull up bars, mirrors and more, the release states. The space also will include a children’s library and adjustable tables for art and science exploration. Additions to the outdoor play area will include sculptural flowers that play music, outdoor chalkboards and STEM exploration materials.

“Baby & Me” swim classes are sessions where students and their mothers are in the water together. The classes will enable infants to acclimate to water while increasing their bond with their mothers, the release states. Classes will now be offered throughout the year rather than just certain times of the year, the release states.
