Youngstown CityScape to kick off fundraising efforts for Streetscape 2022
Youngstown CityScape’s fundraising efforts for Streetscape 2022 will kick off at 8 a.m. Friday at Students Motivated by the Arts, on the first floor of the Ohio One Building in downtown Youngstown.
During the event, CityScape will announce the campaign theme for the 25th annual planting day and provide details about volunteer registration.
This year’s planting day is scheduled for June 4. Projects will include trimming, planting flowers and shrubs, removing debris and mulching planted areas. Lunch will be catered by downtown and area restaurants, a news release states.
Areas of focus will include Central Square, West and East Federal streets, John Young memorials, South Avenue Bridge Police Memorial, Mahoning Commons, B&O Station, Choffin Hillside, City Hall, Williamson Staircase, Wick Park, Harrison Common and Smoky Hollow.
Anyone interested in volunteering for the planting day can sign up here. The first 500 registrants will receive a free, limited edition 25th anniversary T-shirt, the release states.
“We will be so excited to see our volunteers downtown, celebrate 25 years of Streetscape Day and join together for lunch,” Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape, said in the release. “Streetscape 2022 will be a wonderful way to start the summer.”
