Several Mahoning Valley foundations award nearly $800K in grants in first quarter of 2022
Several Mahoning Valley foundations awarded about $800,000 total in grants in the first quarter of 2022.
The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley announced the results of its first-quarter grant cycle Wednesday, including grants awarded by its supporting organizations. In total, the Community Foundation’s general grant program awarded 23 grants for $186,850 in the first quarter, while the William Swanston Charitable Fund awarded seven grants for $89,600, the Western Reserve Health Foundation awarded two grants for $25,000 and the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation awarded five grants for $93,000.
“These grant recipients are working on important projects across Mahoning and Trumbull counties addressing critical issues like job training, addiction recovery and workforce development,” Shari Harrell, president of the Community Foundation, said in a news release. “Several nonprofits also received support in the form of operations grants, which is part of our work to help them maximize their impact across the board and put their expertise to work in a way that works best for them.”
Last week, the Raymond John Wean Foundation announced that its board of directors recently met and awarded grants totaling $400,000 to two organizations.
“We are excited to announce our first quarter 2022 grants to Ohio Voice, a new relationship we’re building, and the Fund for our Economic Future, a continued and growing partnership, Jennifer Roller, Wean Foundation president, said in a news release. “Both organizations’ work relates directly to existing and new race equity and inclusion outcomes.”
