Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office awarded $25K grant for waterway safety
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Watercraft has awarded a $25,691 grant to the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office for waterway safety.
The grant was awarded through the Waterway Safety Fund to prepare and respond to emergencies on the water, according to a news release.
The funds come from the state motor fuel tax, watercraft registration and titling fees and funding from the U.S. Coast Guard, the release states.
“As the weather begins to turn and boating season quickly approaches, I am happy to see the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office receiving funds, which will help to ensure our waterways in the county stay safe and enjoyable for all,” state Rep. Mike Loychik of Bazetta, R-63rd, said in the release.
