Spano Foundation delivers supplies to 15 school districts
YOUNGSTOWN — The Anthony V. Spano Foundation has delivered thousands of school supplies to 15 school districts during the past two weeks.
Thanks to an anonymous donation of $27,000, the foundation teamed with Diagnostics Direct Inc. to deliver 15 pallets of schools supplies to these districts: Boardman, Howland, Hubbard, Niles, Lisbon Exempted Village School, East Liverpool, East Palestine, Mathews, Champion, United, Garfield, Heartland Christian, Wellsville, Crestwood and Minerva Local.
"Students in K-4 will now be able to get much-needed supplies," Kristine Frank, a second-grade teacher at Hubbard Elementary, said in a news release.
Melissa Kemats, Lisbon counselor, said, "This funding was a wonderful gift because not only did it serve our students, there were items for the teachers. There were so many supplies, for K-12, that the students and teachers appreciated."
Kim Davis, intervention specialist at Minerva High School said, "We received school supplies to help those in grades 9-12 who couldn't afford to purchase supplies."
The Spano Foundation in 2016 created a fund to help primary and secondary school teachers, students and communities purchase classroom supplies for underprivileged students. For anyone who would like to contribute, visit SpanoFoundation.com
