Sebring school lockdown uncovers no illegal substances
SEBRING — No illegal substances were found last week when Sebring McKinley Jr/Sr High School underwent a routine lockdown.
The Sebring Police Department conducted the unannounced lockdown Tuesday morning. Student belongings were placed in hallways where the team employed the use of task force dog Radar to search for indications of illegal substances.
Radar, who has been serving the department for four months, also went along the lockers and through the parking lots to investigate for any illegal substances.
"No illegal substances were found," said Superintendent Toni Viscounte in a news release.
After the search, students met Radar and the police officers in the hallways.
As part of Sebring schools drug-free youth promotion, the district's youngest students will participate in Red Ribbon Week activities at B.L. Miller Elementary at the end of October.
