Secretary of State Frank LaRose says Ohio needs poll workers
COLUMBUS — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose said the state has a looming deficit in confirmed poll workers for the Nov. 2 election.
After breaking records in poll worker recruitment in 2020, LaRose said Ohio is short more than 15,000 commitments less than three weeks before Election Day.
LaRose said serving as a poll worker fulfills a sense of civic duty and advances the democratic process.
LaRose said the state so far has 27,000 poll workers (12,456 identify as Democrats and 11,592 as Republicans). The state's goal is 42,204.
He said only four of the state's 88 counties have met recruitment goals.
